OBITUARY
Gilbert Courneya Passes At Fergus Falls, Tuesday
Illness that lasted over a year and a half, resulted in the demise of Gilbert Courneya at Fergus Falls. Tuesday, where he had been a patient in one of the hospitals there for the past month. Deceased was seventy-six old at time of passing and had been a pioneer of Becker county coming here in 1905.
He was born in the year 1853 in Ontario, Canada, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Jean-Baptiste Courneya. On August 7, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Courneya of Silver Lake. Ten children were born to this union, six of whom survive their father: Mary, Louie, John. Mattias, Nelson and Gordon. He is also survived by one adopted daughter, Anabelle Courneya.
Funeral rites were held at nine o'clock Thursday morning from the Holy Rosary church with Father Paulin officiating. Interment was made beside the body of the deceased wife in the Catholic cemetery.
Relatives of the deceased extend their heartfelt thanks to those dear friends who assisted them during their period of bereavement.
NOTE:
There were four other siblings born, but burials in Minnesota are unknown.
