Remonda M. Hershman, 89, Winchester, died early Thursday afternoon at her residence following an extended illness. She was a Jay County native.

Born on Nov. 13, 1914, in Jay County to Floyd and Opal S. (Gagle) LeMasters, she was married on Aug. 15, 1961, to Allen Hershman who died in 1971.

A 1931 Madison Township High School graduate, she received her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Ball State University, Muncie.

She taught in Union City and in several schools in Michigan for 28 years.

She was a member of the Church of God, Saratoga; the American Legion Auxiliary, Ridgeville; and the V.F.W. in Marcellus, Mich.

Surviving are one daughter, Delee King, Winchester; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. in the Weimer Cemetery, north of Saratoga, with Jerry Brooks presiding.

There is no visitation.

Memorials may be directed to State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice, 130 W. Votaw St., Portland.

The Portland Chapel of the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
