Funeral for Sarah Murtle Hardman will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Pegg, Paxon & Springer in Beaverton, with private interment in Crescent Grove Cemetery in Tigard. Mrs. Hardman died Thursday in her Southwest Portland home at age 89. A native of Chicago, she had been a Beaverton resident since 1922. She worked for the Beaverton City Library for 40 years. She was a member of the Rebekah and Eastern Star Lodges for more than 50 years. Survivors include her son, Arthur; a daughter, Edythe Allen, both of Portland; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. (The Oregonian, 04 Oct 1983)
