Former Countian Dies Christmas Day
William John Recek was born September 16, 1889, near Madison, to Anton and Johanna Recek. On September 23, 1915, he was married to Anna Kash. They were the parents of two daughters.
For many years the family lived on a farm southeast of Gridley in Woodson, County. Six years ago they moved to Burlington and he had made his home there until his death Christmas Day.
Survivors include his widow of the home; his two daughters, Mrs. Julius Knapp of Burlington, and Mrs. Lyle Shaffer of Salina; two brothers, five sisters, six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held December 28, 1970 from the Jones Funeral Home, Burlington. Burial was in the Graceland Cemetery.
