Patrick Royal Mackenzie, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, age 61, of Miles City passed away on Friday, March 12, 2010.

Pat was born in Miles City, Montana on December 11, 1948, the son of Thomas Royal and Bernice Rose (Murdy) Mackenzie.
Pat attended Trail Creek Country School and, contrary to popular belief, with no absences in grades 1-8. He then attended Custer County High School, graduating in 1966.

Pat enlisted in the United States Army where he served for three years before returning to Miles City.

Pat married his first wife, Eva Welch in 1973, she was killed in 1974 in a tragic car accident. Following this, Pat worked on area ranches, sharing his knowledge of horses with others.

During this time, Pat married Doraleen Basaraba, through this union, Pat's first daughter, Lacy Rae was born.

The two were later divorced and Pat began work for Burlington Northern Railroad, which he was employed by for 16 years.

It was then that Pat met the love of his life, Stacy Finlayson, and they were married August 18, 1990.

Pat and Stacy had two children, Mandy Arlene and Sage Caitlyn. Following the railroad, Pat owned P&R Tree Service for many years with his good friend, Bob Pauley.

Pat owned and operated the contractor freight service, hauling mail from Miles City to Broadus until the time of his death.

During Pat's life, Pat was the face of Coors and Marlboro on billboards throughout the state. Pat had great love for team roping, rodeo's, breaking, buying and selling horses, hunting, and above all, spending time with family and friends. Nothing made Pat happier than watching his girls participate in rodeo. Pat was an avid poker player who never played a bad hand. There was never a dull moment in Pat's life, he was always there to brighten the lives of others, and lend a hand however he could.

Pat is survived by his wife, Stacy Mackenzie of Miles City; four daughters: Lacy (Robbie) Shores, Teal Johnson, Mandy and Sage Mackenzie, all of Miles City, MT; his son, Scott Bradley of Billings, MT; two brothers: John (Kathy) Mackenzie of Glasgow, MT; and Lloyd (Sara) Mackenzie of Billings, MT; three sisters: Sally (Larry) Phalen of Glendive, MT; Mary Jean (Fred) Willard of Butler, PA; and Margaret Rose Hafla of Cohagen, MT, a grandchild Teryn Shores of Miles City, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews.
