William John Schneede was born April 8, 1909 at Herman, Nebraska. His mother passed away at the time of his birth and he spent his childhood with an aunt at West Point. Here he attended school and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. At the age of 14 he came to Arthur County to be with his father who had taken up a homestead here. On December 2, 1939 he was married to Miss Winifred Johnson of Arthur County. To them were born three children, Lorna Marie, 8, Leone Lucille, 6 and Laurl Christine who passed I away at birth. He is survived by his widow, Winifred, and two daughters, by his father, Hans Schneede; also by his aunt, Mrs. Annie Schnieder and a cousin, Mrs. Marie Koch, both of West Point. After his marriage he warked on construction projects at Ogallala and elsewhere for a number of years and then was employed by Searle's Inc. of Ogallala for about two years. In the Spring of 1948 the family returned to Arthur County. Mr. Schneede passed away May 11, 1949 at the age of 40 years, 1 month and 3 days, at the Sutherland hospital following a long illness. Before being hospitalized at Sutherland, he had spent seven weeks in the Mayo Clinic at Rochester, Minn. Funeral Services were held from the Methodist Church in Ogallala, with the Rev. Harry E. Hess, officiating, at 2:30 P. M., Saturday, May 14, 1949. Interment was in the Ogallala Cemetery with Stone's in charge. An Arthur County quartet; Mrs. Anthon Anderberg, Mrs. Jerry Kramer, Mr. Frank Lanka and Joe Monhart with Mrs. Frye at the piano, gave the comforting message in Pall bearers were Det Keller, Brad Wilson, George Cross, Jean Cross, Henry Reichenberg and Jerry Kramer. Relatives and friends attending from a distance were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schnieder and Mrs. Fred Koch of West Point, Nebr., Mr. George Johnson and John Ellingrod of Parkersberg, Ia., Mr. Billy Pitchard of Litchfield, Nebr., Mr. and Mrs. Archie Stoddard of Harrisburg, Nebr. and Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Macklin of Foil Morgan, Colorado. Also Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Anderson of Grand Island Nebraska.
