He was born in Muncie, the son of Allen and Pauline (Van Devender) Lasater and graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1958.
Mr. Lasater was actively involved with Lasater Farms and retired from Westinghouse/ABB. He was a member of DeSoto United Methodist Church, Albany Lions Club, and Delaware Township Board.
Surviving are his wife, Jane (Wingate) Lasater, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on May 13, 2011; three children, Melanie Marshall (husband-Gary), Muncie, Alane Lewis, Middletown, OH, and Van Lasater (wife-Amy), Albany; six grandchildren, Brad and Elizabeth Marshall, Courtney Redding, Ashley Lewis, and Jacob and Andrew Lasater; a brother, Gene Lasater (wife-Carolyn), Gaston; a sister, Velva Waite (husband-Don), Muncie; a sister-in-law, Mary Wingate, Albany; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Gerald and Louise Wingate.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, with Rev. Rusty Clements officiating. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, Eaton. Friends may call at the mortuary from 4-8 p.m. on Monday or one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
Mr. Lasater was an organ transplant recipient and always encouraged organ donation.
