SPENCER - Catherine E. (Cahill) Reiersen, 84, of 22 G.H. Wilson Road, a retired retail clerk and former insurance secretary, died Wednesday in The Medical Center of Central Massachusetts - Memorial, Worcester, after an illness. Her husband, Frederick W. Reiersen, died in 1983. She leaves a son, Frederick D. Reiersen of Manila, the Philippines; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. A son, Ronald R. Reiersen of Spencer, died in 1993. She was born in Winchendon, daughter of John and Kathleen Cahill, and lived many years on Staten Island, N.Y. She lived here 40 years.
Mrs. Reiersen was a secretary at Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. in New York City for many years before moving here in 1955. She was then a sales clerk at Sears, Roebuck and Co. store in Auburn and The Fair department store in Spencer before she retired. She was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
The funeral will be held Wednesday from J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, 23 Maple Terrace, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 8 Church St. Burial will be in Mary, Queen of the Rosary Cemetery. Calling hours are 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
