She was born June 12, 1916, in Prosperity, Missouri and moved to Neosho in 1933 from Manhattan, Kansas.
She was an elementary school teacher. She taught two years at Tipton Ford, had a private kindergarten for two years and then taught in the Neosho system until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Fortnightly Study Club, American Business Women's Association and a former member of the Newton County and Missouri State Teachers Association.
She married Carl Summers on February 8, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas. He died October 11, 1959. She married Doyle Norman in 1983 and he survives.
She is also survived by one son, John L. Summers, Kansas City, Missouri; one stepson, Cary Norman, Neosho; three stepdaughters, Lee House, Newtonia, Yvonne Parmley, Tulsa and Thyra Charlton, Apache Junction, Arizona; three sisters, Marjorie Willis, Phoenix, Arizona, Addie Altizer and Betty McGinty, both of Neosho and two grandchildren.
