He was a member of th American Legion Post #117, Reedville, VA, National Rifle Association, Kilmarnock Gun Club, Old Diminion Beagle Club, Richmond , Colonial Beagle Club, Northern VA and Patapsco Beagle Club, Upper Marlboro MD. He was also a retired U. S. Army Veteran. Surviving are his parents, Zed E. and Clara Bell Brittain of Heathsville; a sister, Millie B. Markam of Marietta, GA; nieces and nephews, Scott Markam, Tony Abernathy and Nikki Callon.
