Sarah Rinehart Pardee, one of the oldest persons resident in Angola, passed to her eternal reward on the afternoon of Dec. 27, 1922, at the advanced age of 91 years, 8 months and 29 days.

While not in the best of health for some months past, it was not expected that she would go so suddenly, when her niece, Mrs. Steinberger, came to her home and found her in failing condition. She knew that her time had come and said she was going soon to the better world. Conscious to the very last, she said, "Now I'm going," and folding her arms she slipped quietly away to Jesus.

Mrs. Pardee was a member of a family of nine children born to John and Betsey Rinehart. She was born March 28, 1828, in Cumberland county, Pa. Of this family, with the exception of one child, who died in infancy, all lived to be near 90 years of age. One sister, Mrs. Belle Berlien, of Gibsonburg, Ohio, is the only one left, and she is now 84 years of age.

As a small child, Mrs. Pardee emigrated with her parents from Pennsylvania to Ohio, and thence to Steuben county, Indiana. Severe hardships and deprivations were endured by them during their migrations, but brave and sturdy were they enduring it all and living to greatly lenghthened days.

On Nov. 13, 1859 she was united in marriage to G. W. Pardee. They moved to Napoleon, Ohio, and lived there many years until on Jan. 3, 1904, Mr. Pardee passed into the Eternal World. Shortly after his death, Mrs. Pardee moved to Angola where she has since lived.

Not long after her marriage she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in Napoleon, Ohio, and transferred her membership to the Methodist Episcopal Church in Angola upon moving here. Mrs. Pardee leaves behind her no children, but one sister, 20 nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends.
