Bio from IL Genealogy Trails website:

HERSHEL BUSHMAN, was born in Whiteside County, Ill., Dec. 2, 1872, and died in Sioux City, Iowa, April 24, 1914 at the age of forty-one years, four months and twenty-four days. Eighteen years ago he was married to Miss Lydia Spang. Their union was blessed with two children Ralph and Morris. Ten years ago the family moved to Sioux City and Mr. Bushman obtained a position in the S. City Iron Works. He steadily worked his way into the confidence and esteem of his employers, was promoted from one position to another until he became foreman of the plant. His final promotion was to the position of traveling salesman, the duties of which he was to begin the day he was buried. Herschel became a Christian at the age of twenty-two and at once united with the Radical U. B. Church at Coleta. When death called him he said, "I am ready to go." He had qualified himself well for his life work. Toiling faithfully in the schools until he obtained a first grade certificate and then determinedly applying himself to his chosen work until he had mustered its secrets. It is thus that men learn to live right and to die well. He will be remembered as a man of good habits, an unassuming disposition, a good neighbor, a loving husband, a tender son and kind father. He is survived by the grief stricken mother of his children, father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Bushman and five brothers, Cyrus, Aaron, Nelson, Will and Lloyd.
