JOHN³ FRANKLIN NICHOLAS (Henry², John¹) was born Feb. 19, 1860 Merthyr Tydfil, Wales and died July 16, 1943 at McIntire, Iowa. He was the second of six children born to Henry Nicholas and Mary Bevan.

On Feb. 19, 1884 in Stacyville, Iowa, John married ANNA DeETTA .KINTER, first child born to Christian Kinter and Avilla Porter. They lived in McIntire, Jenkins township, Mitchell County, IA and David, IA.

They had six children:
1.Frank⁴ C. Nicholas b. 1885 Mitchell Co. IA d. 1938

2.Henry⁴ "Clark" Nicholas, B. 1887, Mitchell Co., Iowa; d. 1934.

3. Charlotte⁴ "Lottie" M. Nicholas b. Mar. 20, 1889 Mitchell Co., Iowa; d. January 1980, Phoenix, Arizona.

4.Lena⁴ Pearl Nicholas b. March 17, 1891; d. January 1975, Mason City, Iowa. did not marry

5. Maynard⁴ Ellisworth Nicholas Jun 7, 1899 David, IA d. Aug. 23, 1965

FUNRAL RITES TO BE AT MANCHESTER IOWA
John F. Nicholas, 83, died at a local hospital at 5:08 o'clock Friday morning following an illness of two weeks. Mr. Nicholas had been a resident of Mason City for about 3 ½ years, making his home at 951 East State Street,.

Mr. Nicholas was born February 19, 1860 at Cardiff, Wales to Henry Nicholas and Mary Bevin. He had resided in the United States for 74 years and had been a retired farmer for the past 31 years.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. John F. Nicholas, Mason City; a son Maynard E. Nicholas, Pine River, Minnesota; and two daughters Mrs. Charlotte Ezra, Taylorville, Illinois; and Miss Lena Nicholas, Mason City; and eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Frank E. and Clark H. Nicholas.

Funeral services will be at Manchester, Iowa. The McAuley and Son Funeral Home in charge.

JOHN NICHOLAS SERVICES HELD
RITES CONDUCTED AT MCINTIRE CHURCH

Funeral services for John F. Nicholas, 83, who died at a local hospital Friday following an illness of two weeks, were held at the Baptist church at McIntire Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. E. Ray Dugger, pastor of the First Baptist church of Mason City, officiating.

Gordon Bredling sang "Asleep in Jesus" and "Good Night and Good Morning." Mrs. Ray Cates accompanied at the piano. Mrs. Fred Harshbarger and Mrs. Mildred Stephens were in charge of flowers.

Attending the services from out of the city were Maynard E. Nicholas, Pine River, Minn.; Mrs. James Ezra, Taylorville, Ill.; Mrs. Robert Vance, Davenport; and Mrs. Edith Fesenmeyer, St. Paul.
Pallbearers were Charles Rowe (my paternal grandfather) ; Clayton Kinter; Avery Kinter; Hugh Minnis; Perry Carter; and John Grace.

Burial was at the Wayne Cemetery near McIntire.
