Mrs. Davis Rites Were Tuesday In Alfalfa Church
Services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Alfalfa Baptist church for Mrs. John M. Davis, 79, with Rev. Omer C. Delk, pastor, in charge. Mrs. Davis died Saturday at her home north of Carnegie.
Mamie Ellingberg Davis was born April 13, 1874 in Birmingham, Ala. She was married to Thomas A. Steele in 1891. To this union three children were born. Mr. Steele died in 1905.
On November 17, 1910, she married John H. Davis of Mountain View. She joined the Baptist church in 1890 in Birmingham. Mrs. Davis had been in poor health for four years.
Survivors include her husband, John H. Davis, home address; four daughters, Mrs. Mattie Rhoades, Clovis, Calif., Mrs. Bessie Marshall, Los Angeles; Mrs. Effie Montgomery, Clovis, Calif., and Mrs. Essie Taylor, Junction City, Oregon; four sons, E.W. Steele, Los Angeles; Jim Davis and Troy Davis, Carnegie; G.L. Davis, Buckeye, Ariz; 34 grandchildren, 43 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Other survivors include two brothers Pat Ellingberg, Amarillo, and Leon Ellenburg, Hope, Ark. and one sister, Mrs. Maxine Thomas, Logan, N.M.
Hartronft Funeral Home, Cordell, was in charge of services and burial was in Alfalfa cemetery.
