Please note: Mary Jane was the neice of Judge John A. Taylor and his wife Sarah (McKenzie) Taylor who helped to raise Mary and her brother William Harrison Taylor. Some people have Mary and her brother, William, listed as children of John and Sarah Taylor, but this is not correct. Sarah (McKenzie) Taylor was the sister of Mary Jane's mother, Araminta (McKenzie) Taylor. It appears that Mary and her brother were living with their parents in Portland, Oregon in 1860 and by 1870 they are living with John and Sarah Taylor. Mary's mother, Araminta (McKenzie) Taylor, died in 1862.
