Fred A. Schussler, 74, a resident of 1018 4th St NW for the past 41 years, was dead on arrival at Union Hospital at 7:30 p.m. Thursday (March 17, 1966) after suffering a heart attack at his home

He was a retire State Highway Dept. mechanic and had more recently been employed by Kaylor Refrigeration Service here.

Born in Oldtown Valley, Sept. 13, 1891 he was a son of the late William and Barbara Kherli Schussler. A member of the First United Church of Christ, and a former Deacon of the church, he was a member of the Men's Brotherhood class and served on the building committee for the church parsonage. He was a veteran of the Air Force in World War I, a member of the American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.

Surviving are his wife, Lena K. Schussler; two sons, Dale M. of Colerain, and James F. of Ashland; and six grandchildren. One brother and four sisters are deceased.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the First United Church of Christ with the Rev. William A. Huenemann officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue cemetery. Friends will be received at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The American Legion will conduct memorial services Saturday evening at 8.
