The youngest son of Anthony G. "Tony" Lundak and Mamie Burlein, Leonard was born and raised in Collinsville, St. Clair County, Illinois. His father was a coal miner.

Leonard enlisted for 4 years in the United States Navy in January 1951. He was a gunner's mate third class when he received his discharge from the service.

Leonard married Blanche Cecilia Sobieralski on 16 Dec 1963 in Waterloo, Illinois. The couple did not have any children.

He worked as a meat cutter until his retirement.

Leonard suffered from a long illness. At the time of his death at Jersey Community Hospital, he was 61 years and 28 days old.

He was survived by his wife, Blanche; and 2 brothers, Leo Lundak of Maryville, Illinois, and Dale Lundak of Granite City, Illinois.

In addition to his mother and father, Leonard was preceded in death by 1 sister, Alberta Glickman; and 2 brothers, Lewis Lundak and Roy Lundak.

Visitation was held on 15 Jan 1987 at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted there at 10 a.m. the following morning.

The family requested that memorials, if desired, be made to the American Cancer Society.

Leonard's wife, Blanche, passed away in 1992 and was buried next to him.
