IRA SAYRE (sometimes listed in documents as SAYER, was born 25 July 1825 in Washington County, Pennsylvania, son of David and Martha (Kelsey) Sayre. He married 22 June 1851 ,in Noble County, Ohio, ELIZA JANE (BETTS) YOHO who was born 21 October 1822 in Maryland, possibly the daughter of Henry Betts.(Eliza Jane was widow of Peter Yoho who died in 1845.The Yoho's had three children.) Ira Sayre served in Company F, 9th Ohio Cavalry in the Civil War.
Ira was a farmer in Noble County, Ohio. Ira and Eliza, with their five children and three stepchildren, moved to Kickapoo, Wisconsin,
then returned to Ohio .In the spring of 1870,the family moved to a farm east of Milan, Sullivan, Missouri. Ira died 11 January 1884 and Eliza Jane died 16 November 1898 at Milan, Sullivan, Missouri. Burial was in Lot 278,Oak Grove Cemetery, Milan, Sullivan,
Missouri.
