He was the son of Rev. Garrison and Jocie (Archer) Roebuck. On June 12, 1955, he married Sally A. Hickernell, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are three daughters: Lisa (Mark) Koester, Elida, Karen (Steve) Fetherolf, Upper Arlington, and Kim Point, Lima; a brother, Forest "Woody" (Marlene), Rockford; two sisters-in-law: Jane Roebuck, Lima, and Mary Hickernell Houser, TX; six grandchildren: Amanda Koester Ott, Kevin Point, Jonathan Koester, Amy Koester, Jennifer Point, and Katelyn Fetherolf; and a great-grandchild.
Deceased are two brothers: Lee (Ruby) and Virgil "Pete"; and two sisters: Lucille (Warren) Douce and Lois (Charles) Abram.
He retired in 1992 as an Audit Supervisor with the state of Ohio. Prior to that he owned and operated an independent insurance agency. He had been a member of The Lima Baptist Temple and the Auditorium Bible Class. He was affiliated with St. Rita's Hospice as a volunteer for 20 years. His mission there was to be a companion to terminally ill patients while the caregiver was away from home. During the past 13 years he was also affiliated with the St. Rita's Patient Relations Department as a volunteer and he had many memorable experiences visiting patients the young and old alike. In some respects this experience had been the most rewarding work of his entire life. It had been estimated that over the 13 year period if the average number of visits per week at the hospital had only been 30 patients the total could have been upwards of 19,500 individuals.
A celebration of life will be at the Lima Baptist Temple, with the Rev. Gary Hohman officiating.
