Jonathan Walker who in his lifetime was one of the mot substantial & highly respected citizens of Brush Valley and the owner of a fine farm near Wolfe's Store. He came from a prominent pioneer family. He bought the farm from his parents who had bought it from Michael Erhard, his wife's father. He agreed to keep The Erhard's the rest of their lives. He also agreed to keep his parents for the remainder of their lives. On Oct 20 1867 he narried Miss Amanda Dubb's from New Berlin Union County, she was a native of Snyder County, she was the daughter of Jacob Dubbs. Six children were born of this Union: John W, Ida (Mrs.W Edward Weaver), Emma, William, Annie M & Harry M.
When Mr. Walker bought the property he lived on the old milling property & after conducted the sawmill. His estate comprises about 500 acres. In later years sons took the active work of the place. He had chronic kidney trouble & Bright's disease. Although a shrewd manager, Mr. Walker was thoroughly fair & honest in his dealings . In politics He was a Democrat. In Feb 1897 he was elected a school director of the Brungart & Stover schools. He was a member of the Lutheran Church. His widow was an ardent adherent of the Reformed Church.
