She was born the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth Hafke on July 15, 1925 in Farmersburg, Iowa.
After graduating from high school, Mary Jane was united in marriage with LaVerne Funk in 1942.
Three children were born to this union. For many years, Mary Jane farmed with her husband. She also worked at Raizes Department Store in Elkader and then Ben Franklin in Elkader. Her later years she enjoyed tending bar at Vaughan's and always made sure everyone had a good time.
Mary Jane is survived by her two children, Karen Vaughan and David (Marlisle) Funk; ten grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son Al Funk; son in law Jim Vaughan; sister, Alma Dalzell and one brother Paul Hafke.
