Joel Washington Breeden died suddenly Saturday [Jan. 1, 1966] at his Hancock home.

Born in Virginia, he was the son of the late John W. and Sarah Fleagle Breeden.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary (Hensley) Breeden; sons, James E., Roy E., Berkeley Springs; daughter, Mrs. Elsie M. Waugh, Hancock; sister, Mrs. Nellie Conley, Hancock; brothers John W., Hancock; and James, Virginia.

The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Robert L. Hartlett at 2 p.m. today at the Grove Funeral Home, Hancock. Interment will be in Greenway Cemetery, Berkeley Springs.
