Land of the Multnomahs: Sketches and Stories of Early Oregon, by Creative Writers of The American Association of University Women (Portland, Oregon: Binfords & Mort, 1973). The chapter, "And There Was Music," was written about the Thomas Henry Parrott family by Frances (Murray) Parrott. She wrote four of the many chapters in this book of local history; she was a scholar and a writer and was one of the Parrott-Parrett Association historians for many years. Frances married Raymond Edward Palmer (1899-1991), who was a son of Samuel Henry Parrott and nephew of A. G. "Dode" Parrott. Raymond and Frances are buried in Rose City Cemetery in Portland, Oregon, and are listed with Find A Grave.

Land of the Multnomahs, p. 106: … "By December 11, 1865,…[Thomas Henry Parrott's] second son was born….[He] chose the name Armand Guido for his new son, in honor of the Italian who invented the scale of modern music and the five-line staff. Ann Eliza liked the romantic sound of the name, but the baby nicknamed himself "Dode" and was called that the rest of his life."
