Verlin Hubert Davis, 79 years old of Powder Springs, GA, passed away Wednesday, October 14, 2009. He was born in Fannin County, GA, May 19, 1930 the son of George Davis and Minnie Dye Davis. He was an Army veteran and the owner of Davis Furniture Service for 30 years.
Surviving are his son, Douglas Davis of Atlanta, GA., daughter & son-in-law, Melody & David Mabry of Powder Springs, GA., daughter, Michelle Davis of Marietta, GA., grandchildren; Adam Davis, Philip Davis, Lauren Davis, Grant Davis & Spencer Conner, also a host of nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by father, George Davis, mother, Minnie Dye Davis, wife, Betty Lee Davis, son, Gregory Davis, grandson, Marc Mabry, grandson, Sean Mabry, brothers; Lawrence Davis, Early Davis, J.B. Davis, Warren Davis & Van Davis, sister, Vernice Sowers, sister, Verna Falls.
Friends will be received at the at the Henry-Cochran Funeral Home, Blue Ridge, GA. on Friday, October 16, 2009 from 5:00pm-9:00pm.
Services will be held at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he will lie in state from 12:30 til service at 2:00pm. on Saturday, October, 17, 2009 with
Rev. Jeff Daxon & Rev. Bill Johnson officiating.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons; Spencer Conner, Grant Davis, Adam Davis, Philip Davis. Honorary pallbearers include: Max Falls, David Falls, Wendel Davis, Weldon Davis, Bradley Davis, Doyle Davis & Jim Falls. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery .
