Mariane Neilsen was born in East Uttrup, Norres Sundby, Kaer, Aalborg, Denmark the daughter of Jens Neilsen. She married Jens Christian Anton Lind in Aalborg Denmark on April 3, 1847. The first in the family to leave Denmark was their daughter Marie Magdalena Lind, age 15, on 21 June 1867 aboard steamship Manhattan.

Mariane and Anton Lind immigrated to America with six children in 1868 aboard the sailing ship Emerald Isle. Their 13 month-old son, Niels, died during the trip and was buried at sea. Anton and Mariane first settled in Ephraim where they had one more child then moved to Weston, Idaho. Anton died in 1878 in Weston. About 1881 or 1882 Mariane married Wesley Rose and moved to Ogdon, where she died in 1899.
