George Gus Sardelis, 68, of Berryville, Virginia died Tuesday, March 22, 2011 in INOVA Fairfax Hospital.

Mr. Sardelis was born January 4, 1943 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Gus and Marie Geanious Sardelis.

He served as a deputy in Frederick County and Warren County Sheriff's Departments. He served as a sergeant and patrolman with the Berryville Police Department from May 1985 to August 1999.

He was a member of Berryville Presbyterian Church and Winchester Moose Lodge.

He married Patricia Broy on January 21, 1995 in Berryville, Virginia.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, George Doug Sardelis and his wife, Kendra of Berryville, VA and Eric Clark and his wife, Sharon of Stephens City, VA; four daughters, Amie Polanco and her husband, Tony of North Topsail Beach, NC, Laurie Magoveny and her husband, John of Middlefield, CT, Beth Sardelis of Largo, FL, and Brenda Tavenner and her husband, Charles of Paris, VA; a sister, Elaine Sardelis of Winchester, VA; two brothers, Bill Sardelis and his wife, Sandy of Winchester, VA and Steve Sardelis and his wife, Barbara of Lady of the Lakes, FL; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A brother, James Sardelis, a sister, Mary Kirk, and a daughter, Jacqueline Anne Broy, preceded him in death.

Graveside rites will be held 11:00 A. M. Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester with Rev. Jonathan W. Bunker officiating.

Pallbearers will be Mike Sardelis, Nick Sardelis, Billy Armstrong, Chuck Sardelis, Freddie Armel, Jimmy Armel, and Jeff Lee. Honorary pallbearers Berryville Town Police, Clarke County Sheriff's Department and Local State Police.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 P. M. Thursday evening at the Enders & Shirley Funeral Home, Berryville.
