Stella V. Stout, 81, a longtime Salida resident, died Feb. 19, 2011, of natural causes at the home of her son Rev. Jack Stout Jr., in Joes.

She was born Aug. 11, 1929, to John and Ellen Kumpe in a little shack outside Little Rock, Ark.

She married Jack Stout April 16, 1946, in Dalhart, Texas.

The following year after the birth of their daughter, Mary Katherine "Kathy," they moved to Salida.

Together the Stouts owned and operated Stouts Radio & TV service more than 25 years.

Mrs. Stout was involved in many Salida organizations, including Salida Hospital Auxiliary, FIBArk, Beta Sigma Phi, Campfire Girls, Candy Stripers and PTA.

She enjoyed participating with her children in their activities of ski racing, high school sports and activities, boating, hunting, traveling and church.

Following the death of her husband in 1989, she lived at various times with or near her three children, Kathy in Conroe, Texas; Eric in Lakewood; and Jack Jr. in Joes.

Survivors include her children, Kathy (Jim) Sterling, Rev. Jack Jr. (Donna) Stout and Eric (Donna) Stout; foster-son, Wade (Denise) Forrester; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A family interment service will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 24, 2011, at Fairview Cemetery in Salida.
Arrangements for flowers may be made through Brady's West Floral in Salida.
