William W. Parish, 76, lifelong and widely known resident of Lewis county, died about 6 p. m. Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. L. D. Sheldon, Main street, this village. Death was caused by heart trouble, which he had suffered several years. He had been seriously ill for two months. Mr. Parish was born in the town of Harrisburg, Oct. 16, 1856, son of Jerome B. and Laura Fuller Parish. Michael Parish, his great grandfather, settled on the farm where William W. Parish was born, being among the early settlers of Lewis county. His grea grandfather came to this country from Alsace-Lorraine. The farm remained in the Parish family until 1918, when William Parish retired and came to this village to make his home with his daughter. He received his education in the public schools in the town of Harrisburg. He married twice, having married Miss Minnie Millard when a young man. She died Dec. 4, 1917. In 1920 he married Mrs. Ada Twining Chickering, widow of Henry E. Chickering. His second wife died in July, 1929. .........
His is survived by one daughter, Mrs. L. D. Sheldon, Copenhagen; one son, Jerome B Parish, Lowville; and two grand-daughters, the Misses Grovene and Wilma Sheldon, Copenhagen.....
