He was the son of Robert L. Ohnmeiss and Margaret T. Murnane. He married a girl by the name of Lena at the age of 18 just before he went into the U.S. Navy. Shortly after the marriage, she divorced him. During World War 2, "Bobby" was in the landing at Tarawa and was badly wounded. Schrapnel was being removed from him years after the battle. He was on VA disability, but he still worked as a tool & die maker. He died single in Baltimore, Maryland and was buried next to his mother and father.
