The funeral of Mr. John W Lewis, who died Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from asthma and dropsy after a protracted illness of several months duration, at the home of his daughter, Mrs James H McFarland, took place yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. T. E. Richards, pastor of the Bowery Street Congregational church at the residence of James H McFarland. Interment was made in the Eckhart cemetery. Mr. Lewis was in his 59th year, having been born in Wales, July 7, 1853. He came to America when a young man and has always been a highly respected resident of this city. Mr. Lewis was of large family connections. He is survived by the following near relatives: Brothers, William Lewis of Colorado; Edward Lewis of Illinois; Abraham Lewis and Thomas Lewis of Eckhart; Sisters, Mrs William Miller, Claryville; Mrs Joseph Stewart, Eckhart; Mrs Fred Domdera of this city; Mrs James Weston and Mrs John Rephorn of Eckhart; Owen England, formerly of this city, now a resident of Youngstown, O is a half-brother. Mr. Lewis is also survived by the following children: Mr William Lewis, of Pittsburg; Roy Lewis, Mrs. Wm. Kallmyer, Mrs. James H. McFarland, Mrs. Joseph Geary and Mrs Luther Siebert, of this city.
