Mrs. Eugene Morgan
Rosanna Freeman was born near Wisbeck, England, in 1871 and came to America when 4½ years old with her parents, one sister and two brothers, landing in New York. At the age of 6 they came to Nebraska and homesteaded north of Utica on the land later known as the Freeman Lake area. After living there for several years they moved to Wymore in 1891. She married Eugene Morgan, March 2, 1892 and moved to the Lyman Morgan homestead northeast of Utica. To this union four children were born: Hazel Violet Morgan Evans, Lincoln, Sherman Dempster Morgan, ________, Ruby Mildred and Armorel Rosanna Morgan. Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by Ruby in 1918 and Armorel in 1920.
They retired to Utica in 1917 where they built a new home. They lived there until the death of her husband Dec. 26, 1950. She still kept her home and lived there a few years. Mrs. Morgan lived with her daughter until she fell and broke her hip spending the remainder of her life in the hospital and then a nursing home in Lincoln.
She died Wednesday, March 22, 1972, at the age of 101. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Presbyterian Church at Utica and burial was in the Utica Cemetery on the family lot. Officiating at the service was Rev. W. D. Lindstrom. Pallbearers were Leland Morgan, Dwaine Morgan, LeRoy Morgan, Russell and Jesse Evans and Chris Huenink. Mrs. Morgan is survived by her son and daughter and 9 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren.
