Rev. William H. Cooper, son of Henry and Elizabeth Cooper, was born on June 27, 1808 in Pittstown, NY. He graduated from Rutgers University in New Jersey with honors in 1830.

He married Mary Thompson on July 20, 1831 in New Brunswick, NJ. They had four children: Harriet Augusta Cooper, Emma Josephine Cooper, Elias Thompson Cooper, and Edward P. Cooper.

Rev. William H. Cooper served as Presbyterian Pastor in Wampsville, NY until 1856 when he moved to Bellport, NY and served as a Presbyterian cleric.

Reverend William H. Cooper died on February 24, 1880 in the home of his son, Edward Payson Cooper in Parsippany, NJ. He was buried in Woodland Cemetery, Bellport, NY.
