She was the second wife of 0309 0205 02 - Rankin James Mellott. A 1921 graduate of Cumberland Valley State Normal School (Shippensburg University), she taught school in Fulton County for many years. She met Rankin at a school social, while a young school teacher at the Back Run School near the road to the Meadow Grounds Lake area. He had come to the school social and was asked to be the auctioneer for the pie auction. He bought the pie that she had made. She was also the Assistant Postmaster at Webster Mills for the entire time that they owned the store until the Post Office was closed in 1958.
She had worked on the Mellott Genealogy, beginning in the early 1940's and most of the information was passed to her son, Dale, after her death. She had traveled with him to Ohio just prior to her death to see the graves of Theodore Mellott (01) in East Sunbury Baptist Cemetery on "Mellott Ridge" at Beallsville, Ohio, in the southeast corner of Ohio and Benjamin Mellott (04) in Sunfish Cemetery at Mt. Gilead, Ohio, northwest of Colombus, Ohio.
