A contractor, Stimson built many buildings in the Los Angeles area including "The Muskeyon" at Broadway and Third, "Allen Flats" at Spring & Seventh and "The Spencer" on Third and Hill. In addition to contracting, he officiated as the President of Columbia Savings Bank and as a director for the Citizens Bank of Los Angeles. He had previously lived in Michigan working in a lumber mill and he also build the first mill in Big Rapids, Michigan. He was twice delegate-at-large for Michigan and once in Ohio as well.
