She was born in Pin Oak Township north of Troy December 30, 1855, and lived in the Troy area all her life. Mrs. Jane Jenkins, a Troy resident for years, was older than Mrs. Anderson, but she has moved to Edwardsville.
Funeral services were conducted at the Edwards Funeral Home, where services were conducted Wednesday, November 9 at 1:15 p.m. Rev. William Bohn officiated. Interment was made in Hagler family cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson’s parents were the late Alsey [Simmons] and Rhoda [nee Giger] Smart. She was married in 1876 [Dec. 25] to George [W.] Anderson who died March 15, 1931. To this union were born nine children, two of whom, Rhoda and Lester preceded her in death. Other survivors were Miss Laura Anderson of Troy; Mrs. Sally Bussong, St. Jacob; Mrs. Georgia Schwehr of Granite City; Mrs. Nola Stock of Troy; Clarence Anderson of St. Jacob; Robert Anderson of Aedmore, Oklahoma; and Loren Anderson of Troy; twenty grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She moved into town from the farm residence in Pin Oak Township eight years ago. She was a member of the Troy Baptist Church.
