Mr. Elmer J. Magyar Sr. died on Friday at Easton Hospital in Easton, PA. He was 85 years old. Mr. Magyar was born in Newark and lived in the New Brunswick area for many years before moving to Easton, PA. in 1988. He was employed by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for many years as a Collector. He retired in 1990. He was known to be able to fix just about anything broken and enjoyed woodworking. He was always available to others who needed a hand with any household project. He served our country faithfully in the United States Navy, serving on the USS New Jersey during both World War II and the Korean War.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Magyar in 1988. He was also pre deceased by his brothers; John, Paul, and Charles Magyar and 1 sister; Irene Radd. Mr. Magyar is survived by his children; Janice Bellavia and her husband John of South Carolina, Elmer J. Magyar Jr. and his wife Penny of Virginia, and Douglas J. Magyar and his wife June of Easton, PA. He is also survived by his sister; Maryann Kobezak and her husband Lawrence of Jamesburg, his six grandchildren; Lisa and John Joseph Bellavia, Levi and Caleb Magyar, Amanda Apgar, and Lesley Magyar. He is also survived by his seven great grandchildren; Maria, Nico, Ava, Damien, Samira, Declan, and Evelyn.

A funeral service will take place on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the Gleason Funeral Home 1360 Hamilton Street in Somerset. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Park in North Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call from 7-9 PM on Monday and from 11 AM until the time of service on Tuesday at the Gleason Funeral Home.
