Mr. Smith went to his room early in the evening, carefully locking the doors heading to that apartment and shortly after a single shot was heard. Upon an investigation being made his lifeless body was found. Coroner F. E. Andrews was summoned and viewed the remains, but it is not probable that an inquest will be held.
Mr. Smith was a blacksmith by trade and conducted a shop on Church Hill for many years. He was a member of the Dirigo Lodge, A. O.U. W. The widow survive.
