EXCERPTS FROM Edna Mildred Tackley BOOTH’S DIARY

September 1933

14 Started at five but didn’t get out of Torrington until 8:30. Got to Lincoln.

15 Our 23rd Wedding anniversary in Lincoln where we were married. Took Frank (Booth) to Omaha, saw school and a lot of the fraternities he has been asked.

16 Saw Arbor Lodge on our way down, also the Missouri and stayed with Pearl Dustin last night until two today. Came to Pawnee.

17 Went to see Uncle Arthur and Arts after going to church and S. School. Stayed with Arts all night as Alice (Jaeke) rented her apartment.

18 Spent the day with Uncle Arthur, drove to Table Rock, old farm , also where I was born & Dist. 15 where I taught first.

19 Dinner with alice, at noon, Dr. Smiths at night. Had a nice visit as they had been to the Fair.

20 Left at 8 for home. Stopped at Beatrice to see Becks and in Fairborn to see Uncle Kirk so only got to Kearney first night.

22 Mama* passed away at 6:50 am to day. Willard wired me the funeral will be Sunday afternoon. (*Bessie Jaeke Tackley .)

March 6 1934

Ironed and mended all day. Eva & Babe came. Wrote to Frank, Uncle Arthur, Chapmans, Della Patterson, Choloe & Orie’s folks.

January 15 1935

Got a telegram telling of Uncle Arthur’s death early this morning, knew he had heart trouble, but this was a shock.
