Millie Mae Jones was the daughter of Maggie Alice Odham (1892-1933) and Byron Jones (1886-1938) of Swansboro, Onslow Co., NC, who married in Onslow Co., NC, August 22, 1907.

She married first March 15, 1941, Joe Alexander Kiser (1920-1987).

She married second Harold E. Horton (1924 - 1999).

Millie was listed in the 1930 US Census in Swansboro, Onslow Co., NC, withe her parents and siblings as:
Byron Jones, head, 39, age at 1st marriage, 21, Laborer, Saw Mill; Alice L., wife, 37, age at 1st marriage, 19; Georgia M., dau, 15; Roberta, dau, 13; Adolph, son, 9; *Willie, dau, 6; Stacy, son, 3-1/12; and John J., son, 1-6/12; all born in NC.

Millie and Joe had two children:

1. Jo Elaine Kiser, b. NC 1942; m. (?) Dixon

Obituary for Millie Jones Horton

Millie Jones Kiser Horton, “Ms. Millie”, 86, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, March 21, 2010 at Two Rivers Health Care Center, Trent Campus with family by her side, following a lengthy battle with alzheimers. She was a long time resident of Craven County and a former member of Cornerstone Assembly of God Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Baron and Alice Jones of Swansboro; two wonderful husbands, Joe A. Kiser and Harold Horton; sisters, Mary Borris, Georgie Hatsell and Roberta Smith; brothers, Thomas A. Jones, Stacy C. Jones and Johnny J. Jones; nieces, Alice Daugherty and Allison Warner; and nephews, Cecil Jones, Jr. and Frank Hatsell.

Ms. Millie’s home going will be celebrated on Thursday, March 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Pollock-Best Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. David Steed of Twin Rivers Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Thursday just prior to the service and other times at the home of her daughter at 1403 Benfield Avenue.

She is survived by her daughter, Jo Elaine Dixon of New Bern; her son, Richard Kiser of FLA; grandsons, Chris Dixon and wife Sue of Raleigh and Joe Alexander Kiser or Oregon; great-granddaughters, Shanna Fisher and Melinda Dixon of Raleigh; and great-grandson, Daniel Lane Dixon of Raleigh. She is also survived by her brother, Cecil E. Jones and wife Helen of New Bern as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their love and their thinks to all those who so lovingly cared for their precious loved one, Ms. Millie, over the many years she spent at Two Rivers Nursing Home.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 1319 S. Glenburnie Road, New Bern, NC 28562.
