Jed Irwin Bay was born to Elisha and Clara (Gaylor /Galer) Bay on November 5,1882 in Cedron, Lincoln, Kansas. He was one of ten children. His family would move to Oklahoma when Jed was about twelve years old, to Wood County. He would be a farmer and raise mainly grain. He meet Virginia Ann "Jennie" Nance also from Kansas and they were married in 1905. Their first child was born in Wood County, Oklahoma and he would raise his children there, grow old and die in Wood County. Jed and Virginia had four boys; Orley Wilburn (Goldie), Wayne Harold (Maude), Willard O (Esther), and Elmer R (Isle). All the boys would live very long lives in Wood County, Oklahoma and die close to the age of 90. They and their wives are all buried in the same cemetery not far from Mother and Father. Jed had five brothers; Roy, Shirley, Elmer, Halbert, and Hanson (die age 12), and four sisters Lura Duncan, Mamie Black, Alma Haltom, and Nina (die age 9). Jed would die May 21, 1961 at the age of 78. Jennie would die seven years later on May 27, 1968 at the age of 85.
