Funeral services for former Mayor William F. Katterjohn, 78, well known retired Paducah contractor, who died at his residence, 807 Jefferson, at 10:20 a.m. Saturday, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the Unity Evangelical church of which he was a member, with Rev. Theodore Tiemeyer officiating.
Pallbearers were: Kimble Spears, L. V. Bean, C. M. Hand, Fred S. Lack, Roscoe Reed, and Charles G. Vahlkamp.
Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery.
Mr. Katterjohn is survived by a son, W. R. Katterjohn of Paducah; a granddaughter, Mrs. Ben L. Boynton of Madison, Wis.; a grandson, Frederick Katterjohn, assistant corporation counsel; two great grandchildren, Linn William and Irving Boynton, both of Madison; and a number of nephews in Paducah.
Mr. Katterjohn came to Paducah from Louisville, his birthplace, with his parents at an early age, and worked with his father in the brick business.
At 21 he was an independent contractor, a business he followed until 1904.
He was personal advisor to the chief engineer of the Panama Canal. He served at Paducah's 13th mayor, from 1920 to 1924.
