Parents & Siblings:
from "Descendants of A. Deveaux"::
Father: Frederick Dyckman b. 1711 md.
Mother: Ann, b. Abt. 1711
Children:
1- Joseph Dykeman b. 1737
md. Eunice Darling
2-Thaddeus Dikeman b. Abt. 1739
3- Mary Dikeman b .03 Jun 1744
4-Ann Dikeman b. Abt. 27 Nov 1746
5-Levi Dikeman b. 13 Apr 1750

Thaddeus Dikeman was the son of Frederick Dyckman and grandson of Johannes Dyckman and Rachel DeVeaux. His mother, Ann, was believed to have been a Sturgis, possibly Ann, the daughter of Thaddeus Sturgis for whom our Thaddeus may have been named.. This is the first naming of Thaddeus in the Dikeman family and I have discovered no other in historical records.

Thaddeus was born in Connecticut, probably Danbury, in approximately 1739, but records were lost to posterity in the burning of Danbury during the Revolution.

Military service: French and Indian War;
Capt. Daniel Bradley's Company, for relief of Fort William Henry, sixteen days service 8-23 AUG 1757, on horseback from Fairfield.

Thaddeus owned property on Long Ridge in Danbury near the Redding border nestled among Dikemans: Thomas, Asa, Niram, Joseph. David, Leander and William. We now know that Thomas, Asa and Niram are brothers and sons of Thaddeus, and that William, David and Leander are brothers, all sons of Niram, and that Joseph was the son of Thomas. Thaddeus was also well placed on Long Ridge among the Dr. Samuel Wood descendants with whom several of his progeny had married.

For info pertaining to mutual granddaughter of the two brothers Niram Dikeman and Nathaniel Dikeman establishing the link to Thaddeus Dikeman, see:
Full text of "Commemorative biographical record of New Haven:
"...Niram and Nathaniel Dikeman were brothers, and they were the sons of Thaddeus Dikeman. Two children blessed this home of Mr. & Mrs. Tyrrill ..."
as found on page 470 at:
www.archive.org/stream/.../commemorativebio12beer_djvu.txt

Thaddeus died about 1817, probably in Danbury. He could possibly be buried in Long Ridge Cemetery, but could as likely be buried in Redding. In either case, it seems that there is no longer evidence of a headstone.
