IS DEAD AT AGE 76

Mrs. Mignon M. Dawes, 76, of Plum Tree road, Barrington Hills, wife of Gen. Charles C. Dawes [ret.] who is retired executive vice president of the Monon railroad and now a member of the board of directors of the railroad, died yesterday in Sherman hospital, Elgin.

Mrs. Dawes appeared at one time on the broadway stage as the leading lady in "Very Good Eddy" and other Jerome Kern musicals. Gen. Dawes is the son of the late Rufus C. Dawes, president of A Century of Progress exposition in 1933 and 1934, and nephew of the late Vice President Charles G. Dawes. He served in World Wars I and II, retiring from the Illinois National Guard in 1946 with the rank of brigadier general.

Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband; a son, Charles Burr; two daughters, Mrs. Theodosia Kelsey, and Mrs. Marcia Spitz; and seven grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the chapel at 149 W. Main st., Barrington.
