She was born November 10, 1909 in Madisonville, KY to the late Atlee Ryan Shelton and Vida Wilson Shelton. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Hazel Payne Brooks, two brothers, and two sisters.
She was a member of the Nebo Christian Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ruth Taylor of Owensboro, KY; and her son, Richard Karl Brooks of Montrose, CO; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 28 2009 at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Bro. George Carmen and Bro. Doug Grant officiating. Burial will follow Union Cemetery in Nebo, KY.
Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday and noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral Home.
