Sarah "Sallie" Roberts was born in Springfield, Texas. Her parents were Hiram Mitchell and Feraby "Smith" Roberts. In 1874 she married Robert A Davis and they had three sons. Robert died in 1879 leaving this young mother to raise these three boys all under the age of 5 years old. Sallie moved in with her parents after Robert's death and lived with them until 1893 when she married James Harvey Redden. Sallie and James had two children together. Sallie was obviously a pioneer women in the truest form. To have had two more children after she turned 40 and live to the ripe old age of 80 in those times was truly remarkable.
