Statesboro - Mr. Archy N. Ranew Jr., age 74, died Saturday under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice. The Bulloch County native was retired from the Air Force with a rank of S/Sgt. serving with his communication squadron. He served one tour in Korea, two tours in Japan, one in Okinawa, as well as one in Turkey and Germany. Mr. Ranew was preceded in death by his parents, A.N. (Buddy) and Lessie Ranew, and also one daughter, Vicki Jean Wheeler.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years Shelby J. Ranew of Statesboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Perry W. Ranew (Nina K. Ranew) of Statesboro; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey L. (Steven D.) Herrington of Perkins; daughter, Kimberly Ranew of Statesboro; one sister, Mildred Johnson of Statesboro; and a sister-in-law, Sue Nesmith of Brooklet; three brother-in-laws, James D. Hagin of Madison, Edgar Deal and Donald Drapaliek, all of Statesboro; 3 grandchildren, Travis D. Mates - U.S. Army, Iraq; Steven R. Wheeler and Amanda Jean Wheeler of Pulaski; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Hodges-Moore Funeral Home with Elder John Scott officiating.
Hodges-Moore Funeral Home of Statesboro is in charge of arrangements.
