Rosie Marie Deardorff Oliver Swanigan

Rosie Oliver Swanigan, 88, of Warsaw, formerly of Warrensburg, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011, at Bothwell Regional Health Center in Sedalia.

She was born on August 24, 1922, in Adrian, the daughter of Elsworth and Sarah E. (Ward) Deardorff.

On July 30, 1940, she was united in marriage to Chris Edward Oliver in Butler. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1988.

Rosie worked at Town and Country Shoe Factory in Warrensburg for six years. She then worked as a restaurant manager at various livestock sale barns in Central Missouri for 34 years until her retirement.

On March 20, 1994, she was united in marriage to Neilus Swanigan in Garden City. She was a member of the Poplar Baptist Church in Warsaw.

Rosie Oliver Swanigan is survived by her husband, Neilus, of the home; one son, Les Oliver and wife, Rowena, of Chilhowee; one daughter, Slostine Dannaldson and companion, Buddy Berry, of Warrensburg; one stepson, Stuart Swanigan and wife, Colleen, of Midland, Michigan; one sister, Blondie Gregg of Warrensburg; six grandchildren, Charlie Dannaldson of Warrensburg, Jody Peek and wife, Jennifer, of Warrensburg, Mary Gaubert and husband, Daniel, of Kansas, Chris Dannaldson and wife, Melissa, of Warrensburg, Karen Labratta and husband, Alex, of Warrensburg, and Ashley Swanigan of Florence, South Carolina; 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband; and three sisters, Georgia Berry, Florence Nichol, and Opal Cathen; two brothers, Elsie and Eddie Deardorff; three daughters, Sharon Lucille and Rosie Irene Oliver and Mary Elizabeth Peek; and one son, Christopher Leroy Oliver.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Poplar Baptist Church in Warsaw, with Pastor Van Mellan officiating.

Pallbearers are Gary Pippin, Larry Snow, Kenny Mineks, Tommy Johnson, Bill Payne, and Jim Ghan. Honorary pallbearers are Jim Turner, Oral Nichols, and Jack Flynn.

Burial was at Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
