Emmalena Raker, 95, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Harmony Gardens Assisted Living in Warrensburg.
She was born on Feb. 16, 1916, in Centerview, the daughter of Silas and Eva (Doak) Burgard.
On March 4, 1939, she was united in marriage to Richard W. Raker in Knob Noster. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1975.
Emmalena worked at City Water Co. as the chief clerk for 34 years until her retirement in May 1985. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg.Emmalena is survived by one son, Richard Douglas "Doug" Raker and wife, Joan, of Crossville, Tenn., three granddaughters, Christina Raker Symes and husband, Joe, of Prairie Village, Kan., Melanie Raker of Kansas City and Jena Raker Hudson and husband, Josh, of Independence; one grandson, Jarret Raker and wife, Sarah, of Lee's Summit; one daughter in-law, Sandy Houston of Lee's Summit; three great-grandchildren; four nieces; and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, Ronnie Lee Raker; one sister, Nadine Caldwell; and one brother, Harold Burgard.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 20, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg with the Rev. Pete Beard officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jarret Raker, Josh Hudson, Joe Symes and Tom Heydon. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
