Stokes E. Baggett went to be with his Lord and Savior March 17, 2011. He was born in Tuskahoma, Oklahoma on August 29, 1918 to William James and Minnie Baggett. He attended Bacone College and served in the National Guard. He was called to Active Duty in 1942 and served in the 263rd Infantry Division, 66 Division. He was wounded during the Normandy Invasion and received the Purple Heart Medal. He retired as a Captain in 1945. He was married in 1945 to Catherine B. Baggett and then attended Oklahoma University. He graduated in 1949 from the School of Pharmacy. He worked as a Pharmacist until he retired at the age of 70, and then volunteered in the pharmacy at Baptist Hospital for 10 years. He was a 32 Degree Mason, and was proud of his Choctaw Heritage. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Catherine of 63 years, and 4 brothers, W.J., Selean, Wallace and Victor. He is survived by his daughter Suzanne Hoffman, son and daughter-in-law Brian and Tracy Baggett, sister and brother-in-law Dottie and Pat Liddy, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Grace United Methodist Church, interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held 3-8 p.m., Friday, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
