Deceased Name: Edward Lee Roth
Services for Edward Lee Roth, 69, of Perry, will be at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 5, at Bienhoff Funeral Home in Perry with the Rev. Steve Barker officiating. Burial will be at Lick Creek Cemetery, Perry.
Visitation was Sunday evening at the funeral home with Masonic services.
Mr. Roth passed away at 9:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Hannibal Regional Hospital.
He was born Dec. 23, 1939, in Mexico, the son of Edward Oliver and Goldie Elizabeth Kraft Roth.
He was married to Verda Turner on Aug. 28, 1960, in Perry, and she survives.
Other survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Todd Lee and Sarah Roth of Hannibal; one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and Brad Heimer of Hannibal; one sister and her husband, Nancy and Bob Gibbs of St. Charles; five grandchildren, Corey Lee Roth, Carlie Roth, Bryson Jarman, Blake Jarman and Troy Heimer, all of Hannibal; and one great-grandson, Maverick Lee Roth of Hannibal.
Mr. Roth was a lifetime area resident and a member of the Perry Presbyterian Church until the church was dispersed, then he transferred his membership to South Fork Presbyterian Church.
He was a 1957 graduate of the Perry High School. He served in the Missouri National Guard Unit in Mexico from 1957 to 1965 and attained the rank of staff sergeant. He farmed and worked as a heavy equipment operator for Luhr Construction Co. on Clarence Cannon Dam for 12 years. He then worked for Howell's Construction for several years and then retired from Arnold Sharp Excavating. He was a member of the Operator Engineers Local 513 for over 30 years. He was also a member of the Lick Creek Masonic Lodge No. 302, and a former member of the Perry Jaycees. He loved riding his Harley, restoring antique tractors, hunting and fishing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Lick Creek Cemetery or Shriners Children's Hospital.
Pallbearers will be Jason Gibbs, Bill Sherman, Jeremy Leake, Tom Lima, Evan Lima and Eric Lima.
